The information on this page changed on 23 August 2022. The Administrator role no longer exists. All Administrators are now Editors. All Editors can now approve new editor requests.
There are three different kinds of users on AChurchNearYou.com: Editor, Publisher and Champion.
We often refer collectively to all three kinds of users as ‘editors’, unless there is a particular need to differentiate.
Each church can have up to five users in total.
Editor is the standard level of access and the vast majority of users are Editors. Editor is usually the best role for church leaders or volunteers helping to keep the church’s pages up to date.
However, alternatively, you can give someone a Publisher or Champion role when you approve them. This offers a slightly reduced level of access, which can sometimes be useful.
Church editor roles
- Editor: has full control over content and inbox and can approve other people’s requests to get a role.
- Publisher: can help keep the page up to date but cannot access the inbox or grant permissions to others.
- Champion: can only access the Church Development Tool.

When would it be helpful for someone to be a Publisher?
A Publisher can do everything an Editor can, except for approving new users or looking in the inbox. This could be useful, for example, if you have a teenager volunteering to help update pages, and you want them to be able to do that but not being able to respond to messages from the public.
When would it be helpful for someone to be a Champion?
A Champion can only access the Church Development Tool. This can be useful if you’re getting someone to help with inputting paper survey responses, who isn’t usually involved with AChurchNearYou.com and might be overwhelmed by seeing everything. If you make them a Champion they won’t be able to see all the other functions of the site except The Church Development tool.
