AChurchNearYou.com is designed to point to the closest church to the address provided, not the parish church first.
However, when you enter a postcode or location the parish in which that postcode or location sits is drawn on the map and the parish church for that postcode or location is clearly labelled in the results.
The more detailed an address given to the site, the more accurate the parish boundary will be as marked on map and labelled on the results list. We are aware that some parish boundaries run across a road, so the house number will be especially important in these cases to ensure the correct church is highlighted.
If only a postcode is provided, there could be cases were the postcode spans boundaries.
If only a town name is provided in the search then the centre point of that town is used as the point to which the parish is selected.
Therefore, it's best to search the entire address for the most accurate results.
If within your benefice you don't differentiate one church as being the parish church, you will still see one of your churches labelled as the parish church in a search. This feature cannot be switched off and an alternative church cannot be selected by the AChurchNearYou Team. Whichever church is listed as the parish church, please ensure that the contact details are listed correctly as to who the public should contact.
