Over the next few months, we’re looking forward to launching new features for our editors and millions of visitors to enjoy. This is all based on your feedback from our recent survey.
We’ve tracked our plans here so that you know what to look out for – and when.
We’re spending March fixing some of the known issues with the new A Church Near You. This includes:
- The calendar, which is currently only visible to editors as some services were showing in the wrong place
- Marking which church is the parish church on the results listing when people are searching for churches closest to their address.
- Adding an option to selection ‘every Sunday’, rather than stating which Sunday of the month and event happens.
- Enabling editors to delete an event, rather than only being able to unpublish it.
We’re really excited to allow churches to use their A Church Near You page as their website for free. If you’re current church website is out of date, expensive to run or difficult to maintain, this solution should save you time and money. For churches that currently don’t have a website, this option could mean you are able to now have one, with an editing style that you are comfortable with as you’re used to updating your profile.
Communicate better with those sending enquiries with a new feature we’re introducing in July. Messages will go into an inbox on the site, rather than sent to your email address. If you have multiple editors looking after a church, this will make it easier to track replies and unread messages. The ACNY team will also be able to communicate with you quicker – allowing us to send you advice about using new features and tell you about changes that are coming.
We’re also implementing a way of allowing our churches to get involved in our campaigns on their ACNY page. This will give you access to resources around key events in the life of the church such as Christmas, Easter and lent. With one tick you’ll be able to add these pages to your site and better advertise services that accompany the themes. This is all about bringing more people into your church and connecting them into your community.
